Part-time Arabic Instructor
IMAS seeks an experienced Arabic teacher to develop 9 weekly lesson plans and facilitate its Arabic course, a component of IMAS’ Youth Program. This course will help youth learn, practice, and enhance their Arabic writing, reading, and conversational capacities. Helping Iraqi refugees and immigrants maintain their sense of Iraqi culture and identity while adapting to life in the United States is a goal of IMAS.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
· Creating and teaching weekly lesson plans for the Arabic course
· Teaching one class per week, at two hours per class, for a total of 18 contact hours
Preferred Skills and Relevant Experience:
· Graduate or post-doctoral students or recent graduates from an accredited university; preferred areas of study include Arabic literature, language pedagogy
· Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and communication skills
· Professional proficiency with the English Language
· Organized and strong attention to detail
· General computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office
Other Details:
· Part-time position, Instructor will receive a stipend: 4 to 6 hours/ week
· Work in IMAS offices, located at 6328 N. Clark Street, Suite 1, Chicago
· Class hours are TBD, 3pm-5pm or 4pm-6pm, one day per week
· Program will begin at the end of January or beginning of February
