Executive Director and Director of Employment Services: Larry Pande
Larry Pande joined IMAS in the summer of 2013, soon after graduating from the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. A recipient of the 2012-13 Academic-year Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowship, Larry obtained a professional proficiency in the Arabic language through intense study at the University of Chicago as well as in Fez, Morocco and Amman, Jordan. In addition, Mr. Pande holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from DePaul University, summa cum laude.
As the Executive Director, Larry oversees the Iraqi Mutual Aid Society's Comprehensive Job Training and Careers Program (CJTCP), the New Americans Initiative (NAI), and the After School Program. As the Director of Employment Services, Larry provides career development and education assistance to clients through one-on-one advising, group presentations, and an inter-agency collaborative.

Immigration Specialist: Anass Al Bayati
Anass Al Bayati holds a law degree from Baghdad, Iraq and a Masters of Law from Cairo, Egypt.
Since moving to Chicago, Mr. Al Bayati obtained certificates in immigration law from Immigrant Legal Resource Center, and the Illinois Collation for Immigrants and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). Recently, Mr. Al Bayati obtained the Board of Immigration Appeals Partial BIA Accreditation and a Professional Legal Studies Certificate from DePaul University College of Law.
As Immigration Specialist, Mr. Al Bayati heads the New Americans Initiative at IMAS by assisting eligible individuals to apply for US citizenship.

Employment Specialist: Julia Clemons
Julia joined IMAS in the late fall of 2013 as Employment Specialist. Prior to that, she was an Associate Fellow at Civic Consulting Alliance, where she supported strategic projects in workforce development, education, and healthcare. Julia earned her BA in Political Science and a minor in Arabic at the University of Chicago, and spent a further year studying the language intensively on a Boren Scholarship to the Arabic Language Institute of the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
At IMAS, Julia provides career development and education counseling to clients through one-on-one advising and job placement assistance, and by fostering relationships with employers, including via an inter-agency collaborative.
